Crispy air-fried zucchini fries are a delicious appetizer or side dish. Perfect for any keto, low-carb, animal-based or primal meal.
These crispy air-fried zucchini fries are delicious and SUPER simple to make!
I commonly get bored if I eat the same food over and over again. Zucchini is nice, but I don’t want to eat it steamed every single time I make it. These crispy air-fried zucchini fries are great because they are such a nice change from plain zucchini.
They are great as appetizers, or as a side dish for pretty much any meal. You can eat them plain, or dip them in pretty much any sauce you like.
There really aren’t any negatives of these delicious zucchini fries. The only one I can think of is that these are best consumed right away. They don’t reheat well at all, except if they’re tossed back into the air fryer for reheating.
You can certainly do that, but heating them twice in the air fryer can be a bit of a pain.
The air fryer makes cooking these so easy and painless.
You don’t even have to preheat the air fryer for this recipe. Simply cut the zucchini into small fry-like pieces. Coat the pieces in egg, wipe off the excess, then dip into Parmesan cheese mixed with salt.
You can use either the powdered Parmesan, or the shredded Parmesan, but I think the shredded Parmesan works best because the bigger pieces get crispier.
Place the Parmesan coated zucchini fries in the air fryer basket. Be sure to place them in a single layer, so they crispy evenly on all surfaces. If they are overlapping, or squeezed tight together, they will not crisp up on those edges.
Air fry on 350F for 12 minutes, or until browned and crispy. Be sure to shake them after 6 minutes or so. Best consumed right away, but can be reheated in the air fryer for 3-4 minutes, or until crispy again.
Should I use powdered or shredded Parmesan cheese?
Either works, but I like using shredded best, as the additional surface area gets these zucchini fries extra crispy.
Can these be made ahead?
Yes, but they will need to be reheated in the air fryer when you are ready to serve them. This doesn’t save much time, so I recommend making them right before you plan on serving them.

Your zucchini fries recipe looks good! I’m thinking about purchasing an air fryer. Do you receommend an air fryer compared to baking in an oven? If you are able to recommend air fryer brands and sizes, what would you recommend for two people?
Hi Marla, thank you! I really like the air fryer, it’s a lot quicker than baking in an oven, and I think things do get a bit more crispy. You can get essentially the same effect in an oven though, by elevating the food on a rack, so the food gets crispy on all sides. I use the Cosori brand 5.8 quart air fryer and love it. It’s perfect for two people and very easy to clean. It does take up quite a bit of room in my cabinets though, so I would be sure you have room for it before buying one.
Thanks Deanna! I look forward to trying out your zucchini fries recipe after I get an air fryer.
Yum! Your zucchini fries receipe was the first food item prepared in our new Cosori air fryer. We both really enjoyed the zucchini fries. Thanks Deanna!
I’m so happy you enjoyed them! How do you like the Cosori? I also recommend fried chicken and potatoes in the air fryer. Those are our go-to recipes, they always turn out great.
The Corsori air fryer is definitely new for us, so it is interesting to see the results when you slide out the tray. We will have to try out the air fryer for chicken breasts. We also really like sweet potatoes. Do you have any good recipes for air frying sweet potatoes?
I actually haven’t tried cooking sweet potatoes in the air fryer, but now I will definitely have to try that. I would think that you could cook them just the same as regular potatoes, maybe a bit shorter, since they’re more prone to burning. Did your Cosori come with a recipe book? I’ve found that to be useful for getting the basics down, and it probably has a good sweet potato recipe!
