Craving a crunchy snack? These garlic and parsley parmesan crisps are super crispy and salty, and only take a few minutes to bake! Low-carb, keto, animal-based.
Cutting back on carbs and unrefined treats, and looking for a delicious, satiating snack?
I’ve been taking active steps lately to reduce the processed carbs and sugars in my diet. I was getting quite lax for awhile in terms of my diet, while still sticking to the gluten, corn and soy-free diet I always follow.
Even with those limitations, you can make some epic baked goods with gluten-free flour, and adding processed sugars make them so much better tasting, so I found that once a week or so, I was making gluten-free baked goods, or eating gluten-free pasta, etc.
It was definitely negatively impacting my health, I could tell I was getting more irritable, and my hormones seemed a bit out of whack. So here I am, going back to a no processed food way of eating for awhile. I started off doing another round of Whole30 recently, but realized I was still having some gut issues.
I’m experimenting with a lower carb approach now, but allowing myself to eat some unrefined sugars from fruits and honey, and also allowing some dairy back in. I’ll report back soon on how it’s going!
One of the simplest snacks you can make, and definitely cheaper than a bag of parmesan crisps!
These garlic and parsley parmesan crisps are such an amazing and easy snack to make. You seriously only three simple ingredients, and you’re off to the races!
You’ll want to start by preheating your oven. Next, to a large baking sheet, add parchment paper, or a silicone baking mat. Place small piles of shredded parmesan cheese, approximately 2 inches in diameter, with about 1 inch between piles.
Top each with garlic powder and parsley. Bake in preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown throughout. Watch closely at the end to avoid burning.
Remove from oven and allow to cool fully before consuming or storing. Store at room temperature in an air-tight container for up to 3 days.
Can I substitute the garlic and parsley for another seasoning?
Of course! Any seasoning you like should work well here, as long as it complements the parmesan flavor. All finely-ground seasonings should also stick to the cheese just fine, so feel free to experiment as much as you’d like with the flavors!
Can I store these in the fridge?
These are definitely best made fresh, and stored at room temperature in an air-tight container for 2-3 days. They tend to get softer in the fridge, so it is not recommended to store them there.
