My garden is overflowing with fresh chocolate mint right now. So what better way to use some of it up than to make a healthy chocolate mint shake? Perfect for those hot and humid days that we’ve been having here in the Northeast lately.
Milkshakes often get a bad rap for being sugar-laden, dairy-filled and artificial flavor-packed. This chocolate mint shake is none of those. It is free of dairy, added sugars and flavorings. It’s about as natural as it gets, as far as sweet desserts go. Sweetened with bananas, flavored with cocoa powder and mint, and rounded out with some cold refreshing dairy-free milk.
This healthy chocolate mint shake is a great alternative to picking up one of those traditional milkshakes from your local ice cream place. While it may be delicious to consume, if you are like me, and don’t feel great after consuming one, this is the recipe for you!
All you need to do to prep for this recipe is to toss some cut-up bananas into a freezer-safe container, and freeze for at least 6 hours, or until completely frozen. When you are ready to whip up some delicious shakes, simply toss the ingredients into the blender, and voila! You have an instant healthy chocolate mint shake!

Healthy Chocolate Mint Shake (Vegan, Refined Sugar-Free)
- 2 bananas cut up and frozen
- 1 Tbsp cocoa powder
- 3-4 stalks of fresh mint with stems removed, approximately 20-25 leaves
- ~1 cup almond milk
- Freeze banana chunks until fully frozen, approximately 6 hours.
- When ready to make, add all ingredients in blender, and blend to combine.
