This healthy deviled egg recipe will please everyone at get-togethers! By switching just a few ingredients around, you can have keto, paleo and Whole30 friendly deviled eggs!

Before I changed my diet around, I would never go for deviled eggs at parties. There were always way more appealing options available when I was a carb-a-holic.
After doing Whole30 and keto, I started realizing that deviled eggs were one of the few options I usually had at get-togethers, and at that point, they started to grow on me.
However, I have never liked that they are usually made with soybean or canola oil-based mayonnaise. Plus, I would find afterwards that I would have inflammation from those ingredients (yes, I’m super sensitive).
So I decided to start making my own deviled eggs, but with ingredients I knew I could trust. Sometimes I go all out and make my own homemade mayonnaise recipe, but if I’m pressed for time, I really like the Primal Kitchen avocado oil mayo, or another avocado-based mayo.
There is no extra work required to make deviled eggs a bit healthier!
So if you are familiar with making deviled eggs, you likely understand that it requires making really good hard-boiled eggs first. It took me awhile, but I’ve finally perfected the art of those, so be sure to check out that recipe if you need a bit of help!
Once your hard-boiled eggs have cooled, peel them and slice them in half. Set aside the egg whites for now, and add all of the yolks to a bowl. Add in the mayonnaise, dijon mustard, salt and pepper. Mash with a fork or potato masher until smooth.
If you do this often, you may have a piping bag around, which is the ultimate way to make beautiful deviled eggs. I am quite economical (read: cheap), plus I don’t have the room for more kitchen gadgets, so I had to get creative.
If you have any extra plastic ziploc bags, you can simply add the mixture into the bottom corner of a bag. Snip off the corner of the bag, and use as if it’s a piping bag. This way, you can better control the flow and shape of the filling! Neat trick, right?
These store well in the fridge for 2-3 days, but are best served the same or next day.
I’m tired of boring deviled eggs, how can I spice them up?
There are so many ingredients you can add to make your deviled eggs the topic of conversation at any party!
- Green onions or chives
- Red pepper flakes, sriracha
- Bacon bits
- Add herbs such as parsley or dill
- Smoked salmon
- Parmesan, cheddar or feta cheese
- Steamed spinach (make sure to chop finely!)
- Add shredded chicken, bits of ham or salami into the mixture

For Deviled Eggs
Extra Optional Ingredients
- pinch paprika
- 1 tablespoon chopped green onions or chives
- Remove shells of hard-boiled eggs after they cool completely. Click here if you need help making the perfect hard-boiled eggs!
- Slice eggs in half, and scoop egg yolks into a bowl. Set aside egg whites for the time being.
- To the egg yolks, add dijon mustard and mayonnaise. Mash with a fork until well-combined. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add mixture to a piping bag or a ziploc bag with the corner cut out. Pipe the mixture into the egg whites.
- Top with paprika and green onions, if desired. Serve right away, or store in an air-tight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.
